Petty  offences  in  the  Thai  penal  Code  are  designated  as  the  smallest  offences  with  imprisonment  not  exceeding  one  month  and  fine  not  exceeding  1,000  baht  or  both.  There  are  31  sections  mentioning  about  them.  And  the  offences  likely  to  be  committed  by  a  foreign  visitor  are  few  such  as:

                1.  Whoever  fails  to  answer  the  question  of  the  government  official  who  asks  the  person  about  his/her  name  and  address  in  performing  his/her  official  duty  or  gives  false  information  shall  be  fined  not  more  than  one  hundred  baht.  However,  if  the  person  is  an  accused  person,  he/she  has  the  right  not  to  give  the  information  that  may  jeopardize  himself  or  herself  because  he/she  has  the  right  of  self – incrimination.  So  he/she  is  not  guilty.
